There have outbreaks of Diphtheria in Vietnam, Niger, Nigeria and Guinea. Diphtheria is an infection with a toxin producing bacteria, Corynebacterium diphtheriae. It causes symptoms primarily in the respiratory tract and can at times be fatal. The illness is spread by respiratory droplets. Any travelers to these destinations should be up to date with their Diphtheria vaccines.
